Borrowing, returns, and reservations follow a clear desk process, with eligibility checks at each step.
Borrow workflow Web · Staff desk
- 1Scan user — student QR
Librarian scans the student’s QR from the mobile app to identify the borrower.
- 2Scan book QR
Scan the book copy QR code to link the title to the transaction.
- 3Confirm borrow book
Review details at the desk and confirm checkout with the student.
- 4System updates
If eligible: set the due date from the book loan period and update stock automatically.
Blocked if:
- Unpaid fines
- Overdue books
- Already at the book borrow limit
Return workflow Web · Staff desk
- 1Scan QR → return book
Student presents return QR; librarian starts the return transaction.
- 2Scan book QR
Identify the physical copy being returned at the desk.
- 3Confirm return
Librarian verifies condition and confirms the return on the web console.
- 4Scan QR → scan user → scan book
Final verification sequence completes the return in the system.
Fine triggers:
- Overdue books
- Damaged copies
- Lost books (pay fine or replace)
New borrows are blocked until outstanding fines are settled.
Reserved book workflow Mobile + Web
- 1Student reserves on mobile
Student places a reservation from the LibraTech app when a title is unavailable.
- 2Librarian checks student, book, expiry
Staff verifies eligibility, reservation status, and expiry date.
- 3Student comes to counter with QR
Student visits the desk and presents their QR when the book is ready.
- 4Scan QR → scan user → scan book
Desk scans complete the reservation pickup and borrowing handoff.
Blocked if:
- Unpaid fines
- Overdue books
- Already at the book borrow limit
